Update from Suliana 27/02/12
Please pass these snaps on. A couple of the fire and a recent visit to the children in the hall last week with stuff that were bought by you in the background.
Last week we got a visit from the Commissioner Eastern and had a neeting with him and the PA and Roko. Have formed an emergency task force to work with the Principal. Hopefully they will start work on the new hostel soon.
Just completed the boys uniforms including their sandals, but with the girls, we have purchased their materials but are waiting on the ladies to sew them. They all have their sandals too. Have purchased their school bags as well and will look at suitcases and their church outfits next.
Bought them buckets and soap boxes as on Saturday.
The villagers are coming in almost everyday with root crops and fish.....even those from Moturiki and the outlying islands
You all have a Blessed week.

Update from Suliana- February 21/02/12
Bula all. Thank you for the donations that are coming in fast in both cash and kind. Too many to name just now.
The Ministry Officials were here yesterday and met with the Principal. There will be some renovations done to the Craft Centre then the boys will be moved down there and the girls will remain in the School Hall. A vakatuniloa has been erected toward the toilet block and all meals will be there.
Up to date, through your donations, we have been able to get the students their underwears, change, all stationeries (except for lecture pads which should be on the Sinu ni wasa tonight with the matresses donated by the Nauru Embassy) including calculators, pencil boxes, pens/pencils/rubber, set squares, twink
Yesterday we started with the senior boys uniforms. today will be the junior boys. The girls have gone for their fittings and hope the sewing will be quick
Later we will be moving on to their sandals, suitcases, vests and beddings. At the moment they have one blanket each and sheet......
Your brothers and sisters here in Levuka will be visiting today with toiletries and I must say the support from the Communities has been so exceptional, including the sister schools and NGO's
May I take this opportunity to say thank you all so sincerely, and pray the Good Lord will Bless you, your work and your families
LEST WE FORGET

Update from Suliana - 19/02/12
Thanks all for the encouragement. The update. There has been a great response from the local community here. The Red Cross/blankets and towels.....Levuka village.....cups/plates/mats/pillows and clothes Ambalal....pencil case/sandals/school bags/pens etc
The total number of students are Boys 43 Girls 34.
They have decided that the students will be accomodated at the Hall and not billeted out to staff and those of us who have offered to take some in.
The cooking is being done at the school canteen.
I have just returned from visiting them and they seem to have chirped up a bit with all the visits they have been getting. Tomorrow I will taking a few more girls to get clothes as the shop ran short on Friday after the boys came out so the shop proprietor said she would get more in today.
The Westpac Bank Account is LPS Ex Students Association Swift Code: wpacfjfx Branch #: 039014 Account # 1459099430
Have a list of school books per form and will shop for this first thing on Monday morning. Just got 2 envelopes from Trevor Patterson and Patterson Brothers have offered to transport any donations that may be bulky for us on their buses. Thank you very much Trevor
I guess that is all from this end.

Letter from Suliana Sandys- Friday 17/02/12
Yes it is with deep regret that I confirm the hostel has burnt down. This has certainly been terrible. It is suspected that the fire was due to an electrical problem and it started in the boys dorm, swept forward then into the dinning room area and then to the girls dorm. Nothing was saved but we thank the Good Lord that no lives were lost. The children were at Nasau Park. It was their Inter-House Athletics competition.
The children lost everything except for what they took to the grounds.
Tonight they are camping in the school hall and will be billeted out to the staff members until further discussion with the MOE officials.
This is a plea to you all for donations in cash or kind to help purchase uniforms, books and suitcases for the children.
After their interhouse today we were able to purchase 2 pairs of underwear and change/suwai for each of the children for the next few days. The first load of donations came in from Saint Johns College just as the interhouse ended.......thank you so much Father Ikuasi and the students of Saint Johns College.
There are 34 girls and 43 boys
I do not have everyones email adds so if you can please pass this email on. For those who wish to make cash donations the Westpac Bank # for the Levuka Ex Scholars is 1459099430 and you can also drop us a line to confirm.
